Contacting Stations En Masses: TNT

This we should have started doing days ago, but as I explained in this post had we just told people to "contact everyone" they would feel overwhelmed and ultimately not contact anyone. It was only last night that it came to me to run a campaign for one station at a time, first picking the station most likely to give the show a second thought.

The first station that came to mind for me, was TNT. There will be others in the future, but right now fans need to be unified, everyone contacting one station at the same time so we are noticed. If we continue to go about it as we have the stations won't pay attention to our cries at all, and no one will give the show a second look when ABC goes back to the tables with it.

Just a reminder: If you have more than one Seeker fan in your house have them write their own email/letter. You could also try to get non-seeker fans to write something too if you help them along.

As I said in my previous post, snail mail is extremely important, if you write an email please also write a letter. You can say the exact same thing in both email and letter if you wish. Your message can be however brief you want. Your writing skills do not matter, the letter is just as effective no matter how it looks or sounds. The important thing is to be passionate. One more important thing to do is to link to the Varierty and THR adverts when sending an email and to print the two out and send it with your letter when sending snail mail, you should also give them the dates when the ads were printed (May 7th Variety, May 14th THR).

For this to work, you not only will have to send both a letter and an email, but you'll have to spread the link to this post everywhere and get everyone else to do the same. Make sure until the next campaign is started that this post is seen by as many fans as possible.

Getting the attention of a Network to Pick up Legend of the Seeker.

It is quite clear that the only thing holding back a Season 3 for The Legend of the Seeker is the one fact, no matter what issues lie in the decisions that be, that it needs a Network to buy the rights to air the show on their channel from it's producer, ABC-Disney Domestic.

This thread is aimed at bringing together all the stations that we, the fans, would love to see this show picked up on and aired. We need not give up on any one station because of previous "grim" news. Television and Ratings are a Business and in Business, nothing is set in stone and things can and do always change, something I know well about having once worked for Nielsen Media Research.

So, with that in mind, I will continue to update this thread with the Television Stations that we are reaching out to, to try and get them to see the value in The Legend of the Seeker so they may begin negotiations with ABC-Disney Domestic, or re-negotiate previous discussions.

As always, our strength lies in our numbers as well as our Civility and ability to express our opinions without disrespect. So please be civil, respectful, but also honest and to the point in your letters to the Network Stations. As well, do not stop from advocating The Legend of the Seeker to your friends and family as well as spreading the word of where new and old viewers of the show can watch our beloved TV Series, for we need to continue to show that if even an ounce of proper advertising for the show is done, ratings will improve. Ratings will always be a major factor in the decisions of Networks to pick up any TV Show. Netflix, Hulu, and iTunes are just a few places to name a few where viewers can watch The Legend of the Seeker. Check www.legendoftheseeker.com for local showtimes and Stations.

And it's so true. It's easy to ignore our pleas when they come in one by one, here and there. Imagine how powerful a message it would send if a station was flooded with hundreds (hopefully thousands!) of polite, enthusiastic pleas in the span of a day. It would give them something to talk about, which is just what we need. So, with that in mind, I introduce you to:

I know when I'm told to CONTACT ALL STATIONS EVERYWHERE ASAP, I get very deer in the headlights and end up stuck because I'm just not sure where to begin. It's overwhelming. So, I think it makes sense to simplify things and handle this as [info]visionhale has been suggesting, one station at a time, with a united message from all of Seeker fandom. By this, I mean let's not just flail on various stations about how much we love Legend of the Seeker. We're fandom. They know we're good at flailing. It's what we do. Here the goal is to contact them with one specific request; that they pledge their willingness to listen to a pitch from ABC-Disney about Legend of the Seeker. It's short, it's simple, and it gives us something we can wave at ABC, saying LOOK AT ALL THE PEOPLE WHO ARE INTERESTED IN YOUR SHOW! That'd be some pretty powerful magic, you guys.

I know people haven't had any a lot of luck hearing back from stations so far, but we've been contacting them from all over the place with a bunch of scattered pleas. The idea here is to use one voice. We want to ask them to either contact ABC-Disney directly, or to give us their pledge of willingness by emailing fandom at [e-mail], so that we can get it ready to pass on to TPTB. If we all direct them to the same email account, we will look totes more united than D'Hara is right now. And, you know, hopefully the address will get in their heads enough that they'll actually consider hitting reply.

Since [info]visionhale already brought up the great idea of contacting TNT yesterday, that will be the first station this campaign focuses on. The idea is to spend three days on a station before moving on to the next one. Since we're coming up on the weekend, the mass emailing of TNT will take place Monday, May 17th, 9am-11am EST. This should give us plenty of time to spread the word and get as many people as possible to open up their email accounts together, at the same time, with the same goal. Obviously, unlike twitter trending, this does not mean send them continuous emails throughout those two hours. One would be lovely, but if we all aim to get ours sent during those two hours, it should have the greatest impact. The time is based on the American business day and the idea of starting their work week off with something for them to talk about, but if this is when you are normally sleeping, just try to get your email in on the same day. It will still help with the overwhelming influx of pleas for the show.

When you contact them, in addition to asking them to pledge their willingness to consider airing Legend of the Seeker, it would be a great idea to direct them to SaveOurSeeker.com. Clue them in to the Daily Variety and The Hollywood Reporter ads too because those are the crowning achievements of the campaign and the most likely to appeal to them, but try and keep it brief and, most importantly, keep it POLITE AND CLASSY LIKE WE ARE, YO, so they don't reach straight for delete.

A Sample Email, for those of us who are lazy and/or writer's blocked

Dear [Station],

I'm contacting your station as a fan of the first-run syndication show Legend of the Seeker, produced by ABC-Disney. [Please fangirl (or boy) here for a sentence or two about why the show is awesome to you.]

Legend of the Seeker is currently looking for a new home. While the show has suffered from a lack of promotion and irregular airtimes, it has still managed to gain a very passionate fan following almost entirely through word of mouth. We fans are campaigning to support Legend of the Seeker in its quest for a new home, and invite you to visit www.saveourseeker.com/ to learn more about our efforts. So far, we have raised nearly $10,000 and have successfully placed adverts for the show in both Daily Variety and The Hollywood Reporter. (For more on the ads and to view them, please visit www.saveourseeker.com/ad.html.)

You can send the exact same letter that you email, just print it out, (along with a print-out of the gorgeous Daily Variety and The Hollywood Reporter ads if you're feeling extra awesome) and then stick it all an envelop addressed to these guys:

If we can get #LegendoftheSeeker trending, then we can stuff TNT's inbox to the brim with our requests just as easily, but we need people to actually show up and hit send.

After we finish with our TNT Partay, I'll set up a post for the next station, and we can spend three days doing the same thing all over again. (And repeat, and repeat, and repeat.) I'm compiling a list of stations big and small that we can contact in this way, so if you have any suggestions, please comment below!

Hi guys, thought I'd join here to help spread the word about the emailing/letter writing campaign visionhale *waves* and I are organizing. Please, please consider joining in on this effort. We've got the whole thing set up at the link above so that it should run very smoothly and take very little time out of your day. I'd say five minutes tops, and I know we can all spare five minutes for Richard and Kahlan.

Basically, the idea is to stop contacting stations individually here and there, both because it's a daunting task to us and because it's easy for stations to ignore when emails trickle in here and there. Instead, we're going to contact them in a great big wave, all of us together saying the same thing. It should make much more of an impact on them this way and hopefully get them talking.

Each day, the flood will take place from 8am EST to 12 Midnight EST, with the goal being for each of us to send in our emails at some point during that time frame. That's 16 hours, so hopefully it shouldn't be a problem for international fans to find a time to join in as well.

Please, please join in and spread the word because this project won't work if we don't have thousands of emails coming in as part of the flood. Thanks!

hey guys just a little note here... a lot of people that love that show n would like to help dont really know that its cancelled or almost canceled or whatever.... i see it on facebook, they say how aweseome the show is and if they take the time to write a comment that means a lot! i keep reading of how annoyed they are that its cancelled but dont know how to save it!

we should also take the time to comment n post links on those official facebook LoTS mini updated n let people know that its in danger n that they can help!!

BIG mistake, they keep sying SEASON finale so they dont know that it might be cancelled there is a lot of people that wanna help they just dont know how or where cuz they dont have twitter or their only source of info in the official website and facebook!!!


lets attack faceboook too!!!! just like a fan opened a discussion on the ABC fb page, we should do it on other networks that are likely to buy LoTS!

I saw this list of the top Markets we need to get, on SeekerwordPress:

The Nielsen Company tracks 210 Designated Market Areas (DMAs) in the United States. Tribune’s 23 television stations cover 22 of the largest markets (including 11 of the top 20 markets).

The vast majority of these stations are affiliates of Fox or The CW. Remember, local TV stations fill their non-network time (usually) with syndicated programming.

NOTE: Fox dropped The Family Guy for a couple of years and then picked the show back up after it sold 2 million DvDs. So even if ABC kills the show, there may still be a chance if we can buy enough DvDs.
