Let me repost here what I posted there (as a follow-up to the discussion -- I did not start it). I launched the Hercules/Xena and Tolkien/Middle-earth fan tracks for Dragon*Con. Their attendance is definitely well above 30,000. To help build visibility for LOTS and SOT at Dragon*Con, anyone planning to attend the convention should contact the Tolkien Track director (Jean Baughman), Sci-Fi and Fantasy Literature director (Sue Phillips), the American Sci-fi Media director (Kelley Harkins), and the Costuming director (Lee Cox) to ask for permission to: - Leave flyers in their programming track rooms
- Sit on a panel that is relevant to Legend of the Seeker and/or Sword of Truth
- Put up a Save Our Seeker poster in the room
- Sponsor a contest or giveaway (we can discuss how to provide some prizes here)
- Use their room if they have any open slots (it's important to each track that they use the room as much as possible during the convention)
I live near Seattle and won't be attending the convention this year but if anyone can get there and act as an ad-hoc on-site fan coordinator, we can put together a supplemental schedule if we can get these fan track directors to work with us. You MUST commit to being there and ensuring that communications happen and things are done. If anyone asks for use of a fan programming track room and gets it, understand that director is putting A LOT of trust in your ability to get people into the room. Dragon*Con has staff members who are affectionately called "bean counters". They slip into the sessions and count attendance. Any track that doesn't draw a large enough audience over the course of the convention is in danger of losing its track status (that happened to Hercules/Xena after the fans spent too much time at parties and other panels even though they attended the convention in large numbers). AND PLEASE REMEMBER: Anything you propose to these tracks MUST be relevant to THEIR programming. I suggest these tracks because there are relevant connections between their topics and either LOTS or SOT.

Here's the info from the link that veronic listed above
From Laura/SOT_Fan of the 'Save Our Seeker' Team
A LOTS-sponsored consuite just got confirmed. It's basically a LOTS fan meet-up/get together/party and a tradition at D*C and other fantasy conventions throughout the United States.
The LOTS-sponsored consuite will be on Sunday afternoon, 9/5. (September 5/2010) Exact time to be confirmed. It will be advertised on the D*C website starting this Sunday, June 6th.
D*C will provide ice cream, doughnuts and cake (yay for sugar high!). We'll need to provide some fan videos, posters, flyers, giveways would be nice (not mandatory).
Joe Campbell, the consuite director, will contact the local TV station that airs LOTS to come to the party.
Did I mention the consuite is free? No fundraising required!!!
BTW, we did apply for a fan table, but unfortunately they were all taken. Apparently, this year, the space for the fan table is smaller. We're on a wait list.
Other promotional opportunities for LOTS:
• Distribute flyers & consuite party invitation at freebie tables • Distribute flyers & party invitation at Con Registration • Distribute flyers & party invitation at American SF Media track-room (pending track director approval)
And of course the big costume parade (photo op & video op). Please also refer to the Dragon*Con thread on The Seeker Cast forum. forums.legendoftheseeker.org/showthread.php/2103-Representing-at-Dragon*Con
p.s. We grabbed the last consuite available. Phew!

"Hey Guys, dunno if there is one already, but Any one interested in a "Legend of the Seeker Group", for the Parade this year? www.dragoncon.org/events.php#Parade
I am from NZ, I had this awesome idea about all the Main Characters from LotS being there, and then having a group of Sisters of the Light and Dark gathered behind them as they walked the Parade...
Any interest?" NZJ (NZ_Jackie)

I will be there doing my best to represent LotS at D*C! I volunteered for the LotS fan panel so that should be fun!
I've been tweeting to Bridget for awhile now about D*C but it would be REALLY helpful if more people did it. Especially now that we are seeing some hope from Starz about Season 3. It would be great to get some cast there to draw more viewers.
So PLEASE tweet people! I know you can!

That's great you'll be there! I'm hoping to make it but I'm not sure yet.
Bridget is so responsive to fans, I don't know that it helps any to keep tweeting her about the same issue. She and Gabriel Mann both know of D*C and have been invited by SoS. She may take it as spam if she was flooded with D*C requests.

jlyn - you should DEFINITELY go!!!
And I wasn't aware that they knew about DC. I have only tweeted a few times to her and seeing as how soooo many people tweet things to her throughout the day I figured the chance was small that she'd even SEEN my tweets, lol. So I thought more people would be better. But if she knows then that is good enough for me!

okay so I've been on the DragonCon site, and I can't find any info anywhere on either the Xena/Hercules track or the LotS Consuite, and would therefore appreciate any info on the location or timing of the Consuite. I'm also wondering why I can't find this information on the D*C site.

Hey if you go to The Seeker Cast site you well find some information on the Dragon Con activities. Thanks!! Not that it matters anyway. *sigh* Seeing as I'm still in high school and my parents think any kind of obsession with tv, movies, etc. is stupid, there's no way they'd ever let me go . . . I guess I'll have to wait tell I get off to college, and hope that LotS still has a presence at D*C. Sorry. I was ranting I know. For those of you who are going, have a great time!!! Take pictures!!

Here's the link for Seeker Cast with D*C info: www.theseekercast.com/2010/06/dcon2010/They also did a podcast with info you might find helpful. Also, the American SciFi Media Trak published this. If you scroll about 1/2 way down to Sat. at 11:30, you'll see Seeker. Hope that helps!
