Thanks derascal. I agree it's important to follow up with actual letters after sending emails. This kind of post can go in the "LotS is it cancelled thread" I would prefer to keep this thread for just what the media is printing/saying about our efforts to save the show. Thanks tayyat! I've copied over to this thread here and added the full text. (from UGO.com) Legend of the Seeker Fans Rally To Save ShowSeeker fans put their money where they hope TV execs' eyes are. Reports of Legend of the Seeker's death may have been exaggerated. Though the syndicated show has been cut from the majority of stations that aired the series, its rabid fan base refuses to give up on the possibility of a third season renewal. With no official announcement from show producers, ABC Studios, declaring whether or not Seeker has a future, fans started up a website to organize their efforts to promote the show and demonstrate to ABC Studios that it has a fanbase passionate enough to make a third season a worthwhile investment. To that end, fans managed to raise enough money (nearly $10,000 so far) to buy a full-page ad in last Friday's Variety hoping to attract potential distributors of the show and generally increase awareness. Will it work? Fan campaigns for cult hits such as Jericho and Chuck certainly paid off, although Jericho only got one more season of seven episodes before being cancelled for good and Chuck, although granted a third season, may not make it to season four. Also, those shows had network homes, while Seeker, as a syndicated show, has to rely on enough stations buying the rights to air it to offset the cost of making the series. And the fact is that the market for scripted first-run (a.k.a. not reruns of The Office) syndicated series isn't nearly as profitable as it was twenty or even ten years ago. By which I mean that it's basically dead -- Legend of the Seeker is, to the best of my knowledge, the only one we've got right now. So, for that reason alone, perhaps it's as worthy of saving as its fans say.

source'Legend of the Seeker' Fans Continue their Quest with DVD Donations, a New Ad and Fan Videos The "Save Our Seeker" campaign continues in full effect with fans around the world donating 250 'Legend of the Seeker' Season 1 DVDs to Public Libraries in the U.S., a bus shelter ad in Burbank, CA, and a couple of touching fan videos. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE PRLog (Press Release) – Jun 07, 2010 – Having raised over $20,000 in less than one month, the "Save Our Seeker" campaign has been working nonstop, focusing its efforts on gaining the attention of potential distributors and promoting 'Legend of the Seeker' to its rapidly growing fan-base. What better way to do so than by organizing a worldwide DVD campaign of the 1st season of 'Legend of the Seeker' and donating them to public libraries in major metropolitan areas in the United States? The combined venture evolved after having received a significant boost to the "Save Our Seeker" campaign on May 9th, when Terry Goodkind, the creator of the best selling series “The Sword of Truth” on which 'Legend of the Seeker' is based, announced his support for the fan-led campaign. In collaboration with Mr. Goodkind, a DVD campaign was organized with the result of 250 DVDs being purchased for donation, plus over 50 autographed DVDs going to many donors. The response has been excellent, with all public libraries contacted so far being all too happy to add the 'Legend of the Seeker' DVD to their collection, to go along with the "The Sword of Truth" series they hold, as can be attested by Janice Burwash with the Burlington Public Library, WA, who states, “As a small stand-alone library, without the resources of a large library system, we have a very limited DVD budget. I would be happy to add this series to our collection, especially with its connection to the Terry Goodkind books which we do have in our collection.” Adding to the campaign, fans united on Wednesday, May 26th, to purchase the Season 1 DVD bringing sales to #8 on Amazon.com's Action/Adventure list. Staying a step ahead, the "Save Our Seeker" campaign has also acquired a month-long running bus shelter advertisement which will be displayed in Burbank, CA. The ad will be featured in proximity of the major studios (intersection of Hollywood Way & Verdugo) from June 7th to July 4th. Once again, the artwork was done by the talented Miriam Kintscher, creator of the ads featured in Variety and The Hollywood Reporter. In addition, the fanbase further demonstrates its unity, as showcased in the "International Fan Video Project", where viewers explain why they want to save 'Legend of the Seeker,' as well as the "Markers" video, where fans visually represent the marks the show has left, and continue to leave on its fans. Both videos were produced by teams of fans. The strive continues and future projects are in the works. Among them are the fan presence and promotion in upcoming genre conventions around the world, along with more advertising. Please check the "Save our Seeker" website at www.saveourseeker.com for more information on how you can help, as well as updates on the progress of the campaign. 'Legend of the Seeker' is based on "The Sword of Truth" books by Terry Goodkind, starring Craig Horner, Bridget Regan, Tabrett Bethell, Bruce Spence and Craig Parker; filmed against the backdrop of beautiful New Zealand. 'Legend of the Seeker' is an Emmy Award Winner for “Outstanding Music Composition for a TV Series” (2009), and has an Emmy Nomination for Outstanding Stunt Coordination in a TV Series (2010). scifipulse.net/?p=29579Save Our Seeker Campaign Truly International Written by Ian Cullen on July 15, 2010 – 11:39 am - Listeners of SciFiPulse Radio may remember a brief interview we did with Kate Hughes, the UK representative, and one of the main forces behind an international campaign, which was launched in order to persuade ABC Studios to produce a third season of Legend Of The Seeker, which was sadly canceled last year because Tribune Entertainment, who were responsible for distributing the show across the USA were not getting the numbers needed for them to continuing distributing the series. However many fans feel the fault lies in how the show was marketed. I.E. not enough viral advertising campaigns on and offline, and we here at SciFiPulse are inclined to agree that the show could have been marketed much better than it was. Since our interview with Kate, which was conducted back in May. The Save Our Seeker Campaign has crossed international borders, and the enthusiastic fans have brought forth the big swords, and conjured up three really nice viral videos, which can be viewed via their youtube channel. However, to save you all time. I’ve included all three videos below for your viewing pleasure. For more information on how you can help save the seeker. Head on over to: www.legendoftheseeker.orgFollow us on Twitter @scifipulse.

HELLO, CONSEEKADORES! I've missed you all! Sheesh. I haven't been to the forum in a while. This past year has thrown me for a spin as my life is taking a big step toward the future. It's for the better, though, and things are going well. Anyway, enough about me. While I haven't been to the forum in the past few months...okay, excluding the occasional post, the past many months...I have kept up to date with the Save Our Seeker campaign through Twitter. Just recently, I contacted my local library to request the complete first season DVD's to be ordered. I was pleased to know that most of the libraries in my county already have copies, and if not have already ordered them. I've also successfully converted a few fans, and discovered a few folks I know who also like the show. (Everyone who follows me on Twitter or Facebook sees my constant posts about LotS.) I submitted my own picture to the SeekerWall, and I'd love to make my own submission to the Pass It On! video if LotSVideo re-opens submissions. I want to see about purchasing more in regards to LotS that's within my budget. For example, I'm going to a Renaissance Faire next month and, just like I did last year, I'll be looking for anything that resembles the costumes or weaponry from the show. The sword Vaelen was there last year, and it's the closest I've seen to the Sword of Truth from the show. If it's there again, I very well might buy it. I'll also be looking for Kahlan's daggers, naturally, and if I see a Mother Confessor dress, I might melt. I'm genuinely flabbergasted and awestruck by the passion and ardent support this fandom has shown - not only in these past few months, but ever since the show began. Hope does have a warrior, and in this case, it's not only Richard or Kahlan, but us! Thank you all for your efforts to keep this wonderful show alive, and for helping me to be a part of it.

From the Torchonline: LEGEND OF THE SEEKER Fans Continue to Seek a Third Season for Their Show Posted on 12 August 2010 by Brent Hartinger, Editor TheTorchOnline.com confirmed the cancellation of the syndicated fantasy show Legend of the Seeker back in May, but that hasn’t stopped an intrepid group of fans who have organized at SaveOurSeeker.com to continue to advocate for another season for the series. Since ABC/Disney, which produced the show, will not be producing a third season, these fans have concentrated on finding another producing entity to take it over. They’ve raised almost $25,000 to date, which they’ve used to place ads in Variety, Hollywood Reporter, and on a bus shelter in Burbank. They’re also doing email and Twitter campaigns, fan videos, and online petition, and plan to have a presence at the upcoming Dragon-Con convention in Atlanta. “I think it’s incredible what they’re doing,” says Mary D. Brooks, the webmaster of a number of Seeker-themed websites. Such fan campaigns have been successful before with other syndicated shows: once Xena: Warrior Princess seemed doomed to cancellation, but fans rallied and ended up bringing it back for another season. But to date, there has been no public movement toward the possibility of a third season for Seeker. source
