Joey Dakota's pilot has been greenlit -- so now we just need to all tune and watch it so they pick up the series! sourceJ.J. Abrams has a new project underway, and none of the characters involved are named Spock. Deadline spills the news that the CW signed Abrams and Mark Schwahn to create Shelter, a show set in a fictional New England resort retreat. The show focuses on the interactions among the employees as well as between employees and guests, sounding, from its currently meager description, a bit like a crossover between The Shining and the website Not Always Right. The show’s content will mark a departure for the writer/director/producer best known for 2009′s Star Trek movie and the water cooler and internet favorite TV show Lost. The non-supernatural or -superheroic nature of the show also seems to mark a bit of a departure for the CW, the same network behind Green Arrow and the bizarre but enticing Joey Dakota, the time-travel sing-along courtesy of Burt Royal and NCIS’ Mark Harmon. The station picked up the latter show’s pilot along with Abrams’ show today. For the moment, it almost seems as though Abrams signed on to do the wrong show. A pilot helmed by One Tree Hill scribe Schwahn just doesn’t sound bizarre enough. Still, the network’s risk-taking with fare that’s different from both its own norms as well as the remainder of prime-time television’s is refreshing to see. Once the pilots air, audiences will have to find out whether they’re worth the gamble.

CW Picks Up 3 More Drama Pilots, Including J.J. Abrams & Mark Schwahn’s ‘Shelter’
By NELLIE ANDREEVA | Tuesday January 31, 2012 @ 12:15pm PSTNot to be a downer, but this article was from January 31st. This is when they were simply announcing that certain pilots had been given the green light, "Joey Dakota" being one of them. Craig had not yet been cast at this point, that decision was not made until March. I realize that we are all desperate for good news on this one, but I don't think that we will hear much more until about a week and a half from now. I wish that Craig would tweet something, but maybe he can't. I think that his cast mate, Eric Berghen pretty well summed it up when he said that now would be a good time to tweet The CW and let them know that we would like to see this show.

deacon, what would any of us do without you. I hadn't noticed that they said 8 possible pick-ups but only 5 were mention, that feels better.
You'd think by now we'd be a bit better at waiting, geeeee.
I, too, think they didn't make all that media hype for nothing. Breath, just breath....
Am I the only one, that feels like the next 2 weeks will be longer than the last 2 years? I thought I'd gotten much better at waiting. oops....

I really wish that I could deliver better news than this, but for now all that we can really do is wait. I know what you mean about this being a long two weeks! I think that it comes from the fact that we as "Seeker" and Craig Horner fans had to wait for almost two years to find out where Craig was, or what he was up to? Then all of a sudden, the good news started to come in waves: 1. Craig was in L.A., performing with his new group. 2. Craig joined twitter. 3. Craig made a personal appearance at the Convention in California, having his photo taken with fans and signing autographs. 4. Craig was cast in the pilot of "Joey Dakota". Then all of a sudden, a "pause" in the good news. We have to wait to see what will happen next. Fortunately as fans we have experience waiting, and fighting for our cause. It must be a difficult wait for Craig as well. Notice how quiet he has been on twitter? Until we hear some news, let's keep on letting our voices be heard at The CW.

Hey deacon - Um, which article are you referring to? The one I posted here was written by Bree Katz (not Nellie Andreeva)...unfortunately, I don't see a date on it so I can't say for sure when it was originally released, but in either case, the Katz article says the pilot was greenlit... From what I understand, we did not even know if the pilot would ever get aired...so isn't this telling us that, yes, the pilot will air? Of course, then we have to see what happens at the Upfronts to learn about the actual weekly series, but I thought this was good news as far as the pilot is concerned. I don't know too much on how all of this works, so perhaps none of that is correct??

I don't know too much on how all of this works, so perhaps none of that is correct?? Hello Jlyn, What also made me wonder was that Bree Katz had no date listed on her post. But then I noticed that the first line of her article was: "Deadline spills the news..." and you could click on Deadline, which pulled up the article by Nellie Andreeva. So, what we have here is Bree commenting on Nellie's article. Which, I'm not sure why Bree bothered, as she doesn't really add anything to what Nellie had to say already. This was when the news broke that the CW had given the "greenlight" to three new pilot orders. What this meant was that those three pilots were officially picked up by them, meaning that they could go ahead and film them, and the CW would retain the right to pick up each one as a series, or to pass on them. The only way that we will get to see the pilot episode is if The CW picks up the series, which they will announce in a little under 2 weeks. If they don't order the series, we will not get to see the pilot. This is what is so unfortunate about "pilot" episodes. So many are made each year, and then only a handful are picked up to be series, and the rest are discarded by the networks. It's the same for "Frontier", Bridget's pilot with NBC. NBC gave the "Frontier" pilot the "green light", which means that it could be filmed and then presented to the studio, which in turn screens it with some test audiences at the studio. If they do not green-light "Frontier" as a series, we will never get to see the pilot. It will just go away. Unfortunately, there are so many blogs and commentaries out there today, it is not always easy to know when we are reading an official news source, or someone's commentary on a news source. Soon, we will have some official word from The CW as to whether or not "Joey Dakota" will get the green-light to be a series. Until then, some fan feedback to The CW wouldn't hurt.

www.myspace.com/music/player?sid=87428709&ac=nowSo I'm taking it this is one of Craig's new songs. I like it. I do not know if this was meant for JD or not. Let me know if any of you know the answer to that. Not too long to wait now. Deacon hope that I can keep my sanity by then. I can make it till the 17th, I can, I can.

Just some songs I wrote Well, now we know why Craig has been so quiet lately...he has been busy working on his music. At least he is keeping himself busy while waiting for the news from The CW.
