Come on, guys, don't give up! We're not going down without a fight. Like it's been said already, Scrubs was saved from cancellation, Chuck was too. There's no rule that says LotS can't be saved too.
Now is the time to get together and show TPTB that we have strength and power as a fandom. We can do this. I know we can.

They say it's over...if we give up, it surely is. If we make a fuss...who knows?
So we have 2 options, make a lot of noise or limp away quietly. I choose to make a lot of noise. I'm continuing to (respectfully) email, tweet and write.

Forget American TV. What about the BBC? There is a LOTS following in England. They did well with Dr Who and Merlin. Maybe this can be exported to England (and then re-imported via the BBC-America).
What do you think?

I honestly don't know sueb.
My thought is right now, time is critical so it might be best to let ABC/Disney know our great displeasure so that THEY look for any and all possible avenues to continue. Starting a new campaign for BBC to pick-it up...might be too late for that. ?

My motto is never give up till the big boys (ABC/Disney) say it's over. SO DO NOT GIVE UP!
However, depending on numbers (as always) there have been moments of where the show has either returned, or been produced into a movie. Some of my favorite examples of this sort of thing happening is with Family Guy, Futurama, Firefly, and Battle Star Galactica.
Family Guy had originally been canceled by FOX after it's 2nd but had a 3rd season. After this fans out of protest, not only turned Family Guy into the best selling TV Series boxset at the time but also one of the most watched animated shows through syndicated television (TBS and CARTOON NETWORK too name some) (yes LOTS is already syndicated) - how this could work is massive dvd sales on the second season and whoever picks up the reruns also being a good target audience that can make the show popular through word of mouth.
Futurama same as Family Guy was canceled by FOX after 4 seasons. Ran on syndication with CARTOON NETWORK from '02 - '08 being a top rated show, it now has 4 movies and was picked back up (after 5 YEARS!) by COMEDY CENTRAL for 2 more seasons. (all of the main cast is back to be the voices too)
Firefly was canceled at 11 episodes not even airing 3 of the ones it had left. It had such good DVD ratings it got a Feature Film "Serenity"
and finally...
Battle Star Galactica was originally created in the in the late '70s ran from '78-'79 then followed by Galactica 1980for years between that time and '03 ABC tried to find ways to bring the show back (special effects so on were main factors for sure) became a re-imagined mini series on SCIFI (before the awful logo change) was so well received that it got its own show run for 4 seasons, and still has a movie in production for '10/'11 coming.
SO PEOPLE DON'T GIVE UP THERE IS ALWAYS HOPE!!!!!

Those of you that are thinking this is a "lost cause" just keep this in your mind.

ABC/Disney is already marketing overseas to over 100 countries. The big problem is money. They need a commitmant from a station/stations for season 3 that will cover the cost of production of season 3. They almost had this with SyFy here in the states, but it is the deal that fell through and led to the cancellation. It's why everyone was so hopeful for a 3rd season and then the sudden change of direction.
Keep polite but voluminous pressure on ABC/Disney, because they are the ones who will make the decision and if they think that maybe there is a big enough fan base to support it somewhere and they can show the prospective buyer that, then maybe we can change the out come.
The other shows mentioned that have been saved cost a lot less to produce because they aren't as heavily special effects laden and are filmed, essentially in one studio. That doesn't mean we should give up, but just keep in mind what ABC/Disney needs to go forward.
Certainly proof that we are willing to buy the DVD's etc will help because that will help offset the costs as well.
