Tempest I couldn't agree more with what you said about doing away with the Nielson system. It's becoming very dated quite fast. Well, I suppose you could say like how in the music industry, the number of hard copy CD's sold, is not indicative of an artist popularity et al. Since music, just like TV shows, is shifting extremely fast to the digital domain.
CLEARLY, Legend has a HUGE fan-base but like many have said, with it airing at odd times in some places (thereby getting lost within sports etc... for instance), plus the lack really good promotion by ABC, again et al. Seems like it's making it hard for the general viewing public to be able to really latch on to it on TV. BUT as you said Tempest, that's where the on-line viewing/stuff comes in. Again, clearly, just look at all the comments on the SYFY poll, Legend has/is gaining momentum in general. It's doing really well over-sea's, so, yeah, they shouldn't let US the TV ratings alone, be the end all. For TV's part, they seem to be needing to make it even more accessible/stable in it's airings. Alot of the SYFY comments seemed to echo that a bit.
Don't despair guys, it ain't over yet!

I've had similar discussions about Castle, when its viewing #'s weren't great and we were concerned it wasn't going to be renewed. The powers that be do count other ways of viewing and such.
As for the lack of promotion by Disney, a show sold into syndication like LotS is usually not promoted to the viewing public by the production company, but by the distribution channels, so if Tribune stations weren't getting their money's worth it's because they didn't promote it, not Disney. Disney's job is to promote it to the people who would be purchasing it to air, which I think, based on what I've read, they have done.

Thanks for the pep talk Phoenix -- I needed that! ;D Trying to stay optimistic...but sometimes it's difficult. Can't wait until we hear in May!

Thanks Phoenix for the pep, and Extremis for the update. The SyFy poll must be important if they retooled it. Go LOTS I've had similar discussions about Castle, when its viewing #'s weren't great and we were concerned it wasn't going to be renewed. Ah Castle, my other favorite show whom Disney loves and stood behind. It pulled through and is doing swimmingly now. Granted it's in primetime and isn't syndicated, but point is Disney stuck w/it when it was in jeopardy. I think you hit the nail on the head aurora.... Tribune affiliates are honoring their contracts to finish out the season, but have kind of dropped the ball on promotion. They're not going to devote much time/money to advertising if the show is already a "loss" for them. So it's up to us fans to keep LOTS on the minds of advertisers, networks, and fandom.

Awww you're welcome Tempest, Jyln. Glad my posts help. I saw the link to the new poll on Twitter last night, when Extremis posted it and voted a few times before I went to bed. Then again this morning. I'm pretty much planning to vote whenever I'm on here! Hehehe Instead of Legs! Legs! Legs! for now at least, it's going to be, Vote! Vote! Vote! ;D

Tribune was out of money even before, so I am sure that affected things as well. ET - If you love Castle - check out the "original" Remington Steele! Castle has the advantage of Disney/ABC promotion because it is aired on their Network channel. I'm sure if Disney/ABC was actually airing LotS it would much more heavily promoted. Poor show is suffering from syndication syndrome

ET, Your diplomacy is showing. You're being way to kind too them (in my opinion). Dropped the ball? They never even held the ball in their hands. They didn't give this show the slightest bit of promotion even from the beginning. I saw one commercial for it last year - while I was watching it...obviously I'm a fan if I already have it on. I wonder if anyone from the ABC/Disney/Tribune/other ever peruse the fan sites. If they do, I hope they take notice.
