Guys fruit can't be mailed into California from out of state. AND Apples have zero significance on the series. Previously I personally helmed 2 successful fan campaigns - one led to two head show producers "quitting" and the other allowed us to get a full season of a show, whereas the studio/network wanted to cancel it outright. You want to do it right? This is how, and this is the nitty gritty. I'm going to post the mailing info on our main site AFTER we've come up w/ a unified plan of attack. I'm though not overly worried about a 3rd season yet. ABC has been spending their entire January worrying about promoting the end of LOST, THAT is why we haven't gotten early word that S3 has been green-lighted, it was the same as in the Fall we got swamped w/ stuff only a week or two before the season began. So I'd suggest that instead of just sending in letters randomly now - we pick a symbol of some sort to send in and if we don't hear anything by the middle of February we then launch a united fan invasion on ABC studios - from all corners of the globe via mail and email. The thing that we have in our favor, the ratings overall have been in line w/ the higher rated shows on the CW and have been steadily higher than last season. What we need: **A Nice form letter that people can print off - you can add your own stuff to it, and sign it, and everyone mails it in. (This is great for folks who aren't English speakers or who might not feel confident that they can eloquently come up w/ something of their own to write.) **Some sort of a small symbol - maybe we could even do something like rip out the front page of the second Terry Goodkind book to show that fans of the books, have bought his books, and support the author as well as the series. (You can probably goto Goodwill/Savers/Salvation Army and pick up a copy cheap for destroying.) **Then we let people know about it and we flood ABC's office within a single week's time. Also, we want to find out their email address. Most networks have a "how are we doing?" general address, for my campaign against FOX we slammed their email repeatedly day after day after day w/ our campaign stuff until they gave into us. Although emailing the suits seems like a good idea, generally that just pisses them off. Symbol ideas: - Pages from Terry's book. - Silver (outer casing) pens - to symbolize the Sword of Truth - because the pen is mightier than the sword. (Studio execs, producers love it when they get pens sent in BTW - they're useful.) (Maybe we can send in both of these - the white pages would be rather like Kahlan's white dress.) We also want to plan that we mail our letters not just to studio heads but to Ken Billar, Sam Raimi & Rob Tapert as well to let THEM know that the fans love the show and want it back for a third season. IF we get green-lighted, we might get some recognition at Comic Con Our campaign also needs a name.

I know at my local toystore they have a bunch of really small mini-swords (like the size of keychains) that cost like 99 cents each. I'm sure people could find something similar where they live, and that might be a good idea?
I like the pen idea too since they could use them.. and then every time they use them they'd have to read what we have inscribed on them "Legend of the Seeker SEASON THREE!" haha.

Ahh, Erika, the mastermind. But I'm not ripping apart my book. I'll probably scan the page and print it out instead and print a letter on the back. Worse comes to worse, I'm in Cali, I can send fruit, right? I like the idea of having one team letter that we can massively send to them to let them know we care. Anyone up to sort this out and set this up? And one day, when the show is truly cancelled for some ungodly reason, we will have this to come back to in order to swarm them. No Firefly again. What's wrong with the conseekadore name? It's pretty well known in the internet world, I think it could be the team name. I just remembered that with 'Veronica Mars' there was also a DVD Library Donation Drive too: www.watchveronicamars.net/dvd_drive/donations/ (Fans would essentially purchase and donate Season 1 of 'LotS' to a Library near them so that more people would be introduced to the series, thus creating more viewers of the new episodes/seasons ;D )

I'm for it, whatever people decide to do.
I've never done anything like this before so this idea could be really lame, but what if we sent in printed fan art? Like of various banners and and icons (say a sheet of various icons). It would show how crazy devoted we are to the show, anyone can access it via our site and print it out and it's clearly a symbol of what we love. Not to mention it's easy to mail with a letter.
Maybe we could even have a thread dedicated to posting artwork for the mailing so we know the artist is okay with it (Mipps' Confessor poster comes to mind...if she posts it in this new thread, then we'd know it's okay by her to print and send with our letter). Or, maybe that's not necessary if it's on our board, maybe it's free game (??) I don't know.
Just a thought.

Studios tolerate fans making stuff for no profit using their images etc - but the last thing that we want to do is flood the VPs offices w/ stuff that's got what they would deem "stolen images" all over them.

We definitely need awesome stuff to promote our campaign - artwork, avatars, banners, badges that people can put on their websites, livejournal sites, etc.
Videos telling people where to go to find info would be great. We can direct everyone here until we've finalized details and they go live on the main site.

I love it when a plan comes together ;D ( /A-team quoting) Here's some campaign names/ideas: SoT- Seekers/Seeking of (season)Three
- acronym Sword of Truth connotation
S.O.S3- Seekers of season 3
- save our show connotation
- Given the SOS it would be cool with this option to combine charity and saving the show so at the very least it does humanity good as Richard does. Raising quite a bit could get the network's attention and possibly positive media attention for them and us. Haiti is still in great need.
L.O.T.S- Legend of the Seeker connotation
- Let's ok three seasons (or something like that)
- Again this could be used for a charity, LOTS of people need help.
The Red cross symbol is similar to the SoT. Only thing with charity is you can't have money change hands (in otherwords collect on their behalf). However, the Red Cross can generate your company/group a link which redirects and "marks" online donations through their site. No mess. Perhaps a package with a bunch of Seeker themed stuff, the letter asking for season 3, and a total print out of fans participated/total donations can be sent to the network. Or, the fund raiser could just be in conjunction with e mails and postcards asking for S3 (and the url printed on them for our campaign networking sites on Twitter, LJ, Youtube, and Facebook etc). You can use their Red Cross symbol on your sites with permission (to direct ppl to the RC). Last non-charity option would be to simply have folks send in e mail and pre-designed, print ready S3 postcards with the url of sites that have various "We want a S3!" media. The BoCS will be ready in the coming weeks to let the producers/actors know we love the show, but it won't be done in time for show renewal. Just my noodles and cents

Guys - networks really don't like it when fans send food stuff, even though food-type campaigns were successful in the past (Roswell, Jericho) I really don't think it's a good idea. You really wouldn't want to send spices or dry anything because of the Anthrax scare is still out there. Plus, do you really want to piss someone off who accidentally got stuff spilled all over their clothes? I like the idea that maybe we do this a a three pronged thing: 1) Send it to the network. 2) Send it to the producers (show them the love.) 3) Send them to your local affiliate station &/or WGN. If you want to make an impact, send them stuff that they can use or is highly visual. For my Smallville campaign we sent pencils w/ little red capes tied to them (cape = Superman, pencil = reporter Clark Kent.) For my TSCC campaign we sent nothing but spammed everyone with letters and emails. The emails were most effective - I actually got contacted by a rep at the studio and provided me w/ another address to send it to because the person we had targeted had gotten overly slammed. If we wanted to send a symbol it should be something that the network execs wouldn't see as annoying. Again, I think pens would work best (Silver for Richard, White for Kahlan, Red for Cara.) Maybe a white horse would be a good symbol too? Even though swords are a big symbol on the show, I don't think sending weapon related things, even plastic is a good idea. The items could be sent to both ABC & the Producers (free office supplies would likely be welcomed by them ) One of our Smallville groups sent pens into the producers and they thanked the folks like twice at Comic Con last year for them. Local stations I don't think that we need to send the items to them mostly because they'd be spread out all over and it wouldn't make that big of an impact as tons showing up in Burbank. Local stations could be spammed w/ emails though. We could gather a list of email stations from the largest (and even smaller) markets and have days set aside where we slam each one's servers w/ requests for a Season 3.

Do you recall which pen place you used before Erika??
