March 26th/2012
Hey Seekers
With regards to the thread on the "Legend of the Seeker: We Want Season 3,4,5..." Facebook Group, about attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the "Most Comments on a Facebook Item",
( www.facebook.com/groups/269657990457/10150513278600458/ with over 439,000 comments as of March 26th at 4:30PM)
We have a Very Important decision to make regarding the application for this LOTS Guinness World Record attempt.
From information gathered on the Guinness World Record website,
here are our Three options for the Application:
>>>> 1. FREE Application <<<<
This is the standard way to apply for an attempt at a Guinness World Record.
After the form is filled out online by Ralph Smith, (the member who started the thread) it will take 4 to 6 weeks for Guinness to reply, where they will give us their Guidelines & Rules, which we must *strictly* follow.
Guinness will also include a Code Number in their email reply, which must be noted on the paper application, which will need to be signed by Ralph Smith and then Faxed or Emailed to Guinness in the U.K.
Guinness will then take another 4 to 8 weeks to Review the application and will then let us know if we are approved to try to break the record.
From what we know about the eXisting record, Group Members believe that we need to beat the previous Record of 1,001,552 comments by May 1st/2012 (UK time).
If we decide to go with the FREE Application, we won't hear from Guinness for at least 2 to 4 months , all together, with the full information (receiving the Rules, if we will be approved to try for the record, if we are attempting it correctly so far, and having our application & evidence renewed.)
We won't know during that time if we are approved, or if we are following the correct rules with what we're already posting.
If we pick the FREE option, and send it on on March 30th, we wouldn't hear back from Guinness with their Rules until around April 30th, at the earliest, and then not hear from them again, about if our application has been approved, until June 30th, at the earliest.
If we haven't broken any of their rules or guidelines, with this particular World Record attempt ("Most comments on a Facebook item"), and if we are approved to try, and
If we are allowed to qualify for the record *AFTER THE FACT*, (meaning after we do all of the hard work of posting over 1,001,552 comments by May 1st), then there is a possibility that the Free application option might work.
That's a lot of "IF's", and we would be taking a big risk with continuing on in the dark, not knowing what their Rules & Guidelines are, or if we'd even be approved to try to break the record.

>>>> 2. FAST TRACK Application <<<<
With this option, the application would be filled out online by Ralph Smith.
The FAST TRACK option ensures that our application is reviewed within three working days.
The FAST TRACK option includes:
--review of the proposal within 3 days and response from Guinness World Records.
--priority answers to any subsequent enquiry that Ralph posts about the FAST TRACK claim using the Members Area of the Guinness website.
--priority examination of the evidence Ralph sends as proof of our record breaking.
If our record suggestion is Not suitable for a Guinness World Record, they will also get back to Ralph with an explanation of why it is not of interest.
******Please NOTE, that if our proposal is Not acceptable as a new Guinness World Record, or the record category we apply for is no longer monitored, Guinness will NOT be able to refund the fees paid for the quick FAST TRACK processing of our application.********
If Seekers choose the FAST TRACK option, we would find out quickly what the Guidelines & Rules are that we need to be following, and we would also find out quickly if we would be approved to try to break the record.
(and we'd know if any changes need to be made to what we're doing now)
*****There IS a FEE for this option, which is: 450 Pounds = $720.00 U.S. Dollars*****
NOTE: Even though there is a FEE for this option, it does NOT mean that our Attempt to break the record will be valid or accepted by Guinness.
The FEE is only for a speedy reply, it does NOT mean our attempt will qualify or be approved.

>>>> 3. FAST REVIEW <<<<
With this option, Ralph would first send in the FREE Application, and then wait to receive an email from Guinness with the Guidelines & Rules, which takes between 4 to 6 weeks.
Then, he would sign & fill out the paper application, FAX or Email it to the Guinness UK Office, upgrade the Review portion via their Website to the FAST REVIEW option, and
then Guinness would Review the application with priority within 3 working days, and let us know if we are approved to attempt to break the record.
****There is a FEE for this option, which is: 300 Pounds = $476.00 U.S. Dollars****
NOTE: Even though there is a FEE for this option, it does NOT mean that our Attempt will be valid or be accepted by Guinness.
The FEE is only for a speedy review of our application, it does NOT mean our attempt will qualify or be approved.

>>>> ATTENTION <<<<
With regards to the FAST TRACK & FAST REVIEW options, each requires a FEE, so if members choose either of these options, Donations *would* be required to cover the costs.
If Seeker Fans decide to go for one of the options that has a FEE, SaveOurSeeker.com has kindly offered to add a "special" separate PayPal Button on their website: www.SaveOurSeeker.com , to assist us in raising the funds needed for this Guinness Record Application fee.
(they would also try to post an update as often as possible, so we could see how much was being raised, and how close to our goal we are.)
* If Seekers can raise enough funds for the FAST TRACK option, we'd find out the quickest way possible from Guinness about their Rules, and if we would be approved to try to break the record.
(if we need to change anything, it would be good to know as fast as possible!!)
* If Seekers raise only enough funds for the FAST REVIEW Option, we'd have to wait 4 to 6 weeks for an email reply from Guinness about their Rules, but would get a quick review regarding our application to find out if we are approved to try to break the record.
* If enough funds aren't raised for the FAST TRACK or FAST REVIEW options, any donations that are made to the SaveOurSeeker.com website through the "Special" extra PayPal button, would then go towards other SOS Projects instead.
(Exception would be for donations of $100 or higher, that are donated by a single person - a Refund could then be requested from saveourseeker.com, minus the PayPal Fees.
Donations made by a single person that are under $100 can NOT be refunded. )
We would also then need to enter our application by the FREE option.
**Currently, SaveOurSeeker.com is working on these 3 main projects:
1. Letter writing campaign (aka the "Journey Book Campaign"). Contacting different networks each week.
2. Organizing and/or supporting Fan Tables at conventions around the World.
3. DVD Donations to Public Libraries. Over 400 DVDs donated so far to Libraries in the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

>>>> NAME on the Record <<<<
As with the previous records for this Guinness category, the record is listed in the name of the person who started the thread, along with the name of the Facebook Group.
In our case, it would be Ralph Smith, and: "Legend of the Seeker: We Want Season 3,4,5..."
Ralph Smith will be the person who has to fill out the application on behalf of our group, as he started the thread.
The Thread will *hopefully* be enough evidence needed by Guinness.
(we won't know for sure until we hear back "Officially" from Guinness about this.)
Ralph is going to ask Guinness if the record can be put into the Facebook Group's name, or in the "Save Our Seeker" name, instead of his own, in order to reward the Seeker Fans for all of their hard work, and also to get more publicity for our wanting more of "Legend of the Seeker", which is the reason why we're attempting the record.
(The previous record holders, have also gotten to do interviews, which would definitely help with promoting )
Also, according to the Guinness Website, *Anyone* participating in this World Record attempt, needs to show proof of their consent.
If everyone participating could email or message their consent to Ralph, that would be great!
Email your consent to Ralph Smith here:
ralmart01@gmail.com
Or message your consent to Ralph Smith via Facebook here:
www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000494051968
NOTE:
If you are under the age of 18, you will need to have your guardian or parent submit their consent on your behalf.
We definitely want to make sure we are following all of the Guinness rules, as soon as we know what each of them are.
This one, we can start doing now.

NOTE:
Information from one of the previous holders of this record, states that NO vulgar or obscene language be posted as a comment on the Guinness Record attempting thread.
If you see any Seeker posting anything that fits that description, please let them know ASAP to delete their comment/comments so that it doesn't disqualify us before we even have the opportunity to be approved to try.
ANY Seeker who posts vulgar or obscene language, and does NOT delete their comments, or continues to post such comments,
WILL be banned & removed, or permanently banned from the Facebook Group.

Please comment below, or on the LOTS Facebook Group ASAP as to which option you'd prefer for the Guinness Application, and then we will know which way to proceed.
The sooner we all decide on an option the better!
(Comments will be reviewed & Votes counted by Saturday, March 31st, to give everyone ample time to post their choice.)
Thanks Seekers!
