"Save Our Seeker" Season 2 DVD Drive Fundraiser with some New "Thank You" Gifts --Posted by Laura of SOS.com on Aug 10/2010
"Thank you to ALL of you for supporting the fundraiser to purchase the full page ad for 'The Hollywood Reporter'. We did reach our goal on August 6th, in less than a week and are working on the ad. Ad updates will be published soon.
Since sos.com continues to receive donations, we thought it would be a good idea to start a new "fundraising thermometer".
We set the goal at $8,000, the amount we'll need to donate 250 Season 2 DVDs to public libraries in the USA (using amazon.com prices, $31.99). We could save money on shipping costs by sending the DVDs directly to the libraries from amazon.com, since orders over $25 can use the "free shipping" option.
The "Thank You" gifts with Marlusrahl's design are still available for donations over $50, and we've added some new items too. The thermometer on the site shows our progress against the goal.
You'll be able to choose any of these items:
--One item will be sent for a $50 donation. --We'll be happy to send 2 items of your choice for a $75 donation, --and 3 items for a $100 donation.
We can ship worldwide.
All these thank you gifts are available exclusively to sos.com supporters.
Smaller amounts donated also help tremendously and are immensely appreciated. We just won't be able to send a gift in return.
Please make sure to let us know your Thank You Gift(s) of choice by completing this field: "Add special instructions to the seller" when you fill out the PayPal form at: www.saveourseeker.com/
---> When requesting clothing, please specify infant/toddler/kids/men's/women's, plus color and size.
Marlus, thank you again for donating your cheerful "Team Awesome" design to sos.com.
And thank you to all of you - fans - for your continued support.
"Thank You" Gift Selection listed here:

Also, any items you purchase from the Save Our Seeker Store on Cafepress.com: www.cafepress.com/savetheseeker contribute to the DVD Fundraiser, as well as purchases on amazon.com that originate from this web page www.saveourseeker.com/store.html .

>From Laura of SOS:
I just received a very nice email from the Providence, RI, public library:
"Just wanted to let you know that we have received your donated DVDs [4 copies] of Season 1 and Season 2 of the Legend of the Seeker. We are putting 2 copies of each season in our own collection and we have passed the additional copies on to other local libraries where we know that there will be demand for them.
Thanks so much for sending these DVDs. I can tell you that placing the DVDs in public libraries has brought a lot of pleasure to library users!"

>From Laura of SOS.com, Feb 2nd/2011: Just letting you know I bought 20 season 2 Seeker DVDs on eBay. The seller gave us a deal: $20 each with free shipping. I couldn't refuse of course. BTW, I did tell the seller about our campaign. Who knows... she might join
We now have 25 DVDs on hand to donate. I'll contact some libraries, but if you have a local library in the US and Canada that could accept the LotS DVDs, please let me know via email. Thank you. laura@saveourseeker.com
DVD Library Drive update -From Laura of SOS.com, March 4th/2011:
Today, we made our first fandom DVD donation to libraries in Canada!!! Wooooh hoooo!!!
3 season 1 and 3 season 2 sets went to Winnipeg, MB, and one set of each seasons wetn to Oshawa, ON. In general, the donations were very well received.
Season 2 Donation Total: 81
We're following the same donation process used for the US. We look up the list of largest metropolitan areas in Canada, ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_the_100_largest_metropolitan_areas_in_Canada ) and then go to Google to find the main library. On the library websites, we search the catalog to see if LotS is already in the library collection, and if not, we contact the library via email or website. Sometimes via phone. So far we contacted the main library in the first 14 cities on the list, and about half of them already have the DVDs, which is pretty impressive.
On the US front, I wanted to share a snippet from an email from the librarian in Atlanta, GA: "Our patrons have enjoyed having the series on DVD, and I know they would love to find out what happened in season 2!"
Below is a collection of the best emails we received. Feel free to use in your JBC letters and postcards.
Providence Library, RI: "Thanks so much for sending these DVDs. I can tell you that placing the DVDs in public libraries has brought a lot of pleasure to library users!”
Moreno Valley Public Library, CA: "We'd love to get season 2. Season 1 has been circulating continually since we received it."
Arcadia Library, CA: "We've had patrons ask for the second season. I look forward to receiving your gift and much appreciate your generosity."
Holbrook Library, AZ: "If you have an extra set of season 1, we'd love to receive both seasons."
Burlington Library, WA: "[...] all five discs of Season 1 are currently checked out. It’s a popular series."
The best feeling is when we look up the catalog of the libraries that have already received season 1 from us, and we find out they have purchased season 2 themselves without waiting for a donation. This has happened at these libraries: Boston, MA, Fort Worth, TX, Sacramento, CA, San Francisco Peninsula, CA, and Glenside, PA. I think it only means that our "LotS DVD Stimulus Package" is working ;D
