Welcome, Laura! As you can probably tell, a lot of us here are well familiar with the books, but due to the way the show is handled, the particular plot developments are as much a surprise for us as for anyone else. We just have a general idea where things are going and lots of fun speculating which parts of the book will make their way onto our screens. So it's totally up to you - if you feel a painful lack of new LotS over this winter break for example, you might try the books to ease the suffering Or simply come over here to chat Lots, we're looking forward to it!

Hello, my name is Laura. I have been watching LotS since episode 4 (although I caught up right away), and following another board that was not so fun. I found this one through LJ. I am excited for the new episodes, I have not read the books and I am trying to decide whether I want to or not. My other big fandom is Sailor Moon, which is pretty old by now, but I rationed myself to one episode a week and managed not to spoiler myself for almost 5 years now. But it seems like LotS is made equally for book fans and non-book fans, so I figure it will still be exciting if I know what is coming a little. But would it be more exciting if I didn't? Akk! I can't decide. Anyway, I live in the US in Portland Oregon. I knit a lot and study history. I am 28 and I am excited to get involved here. Hi Laura! Welcome to LOTS fandom We're a fun bunch here who love the show for what it is. We're also a SOT book fanboy free zone, so no bitching and moaning here...other than the LONG 4 week wait until we get a new episode! GAH! To read or not to read? That IS the question. Well I read (most of) the books eons ago and only had vague memories of the characters. I loved Richard/Kahlan though - even if they are impossible to ship. I recently reread WFR and found it fun to read because I can sorta try to figure out where the writers are going w/ the series. If I hadn't read the books before I might not have reread it, the end of it is pretty big so you might not want to be spoiled.

Hi all i found this forum over bridgetregan.net, so i registered and have read a bit and due to some interesting posts and discussions i decided to remain here My name is Simon, 24 years old from Vienna in Austria, so sorry for my bad english skills. A friend brought me to the show two days after the pilot was aired and i must "confess" i've never heard of the sword of truth, terry goodkind or the actors of the show before, the pilot impressed me very much and as a fan of fantasy or fairy tale love stories i've seen every episode and started to read the books both the show and the books are amazing, kahlan and richard are just awesome i think what they have together, is that, what all people search but only few of us will ever find so but as a male, i'm not really sharing the obsession in shirtless richard of most of you i'm more into bridget regan than craig horner, but he has quiet an impressive well trained body ^^ merry christmas

Merry Christmas Everyone!
I'm so glad to find a forum devoted to the passion of Richard and Kahlan. I'm from the USA and have been a fan of the TV series since the first second of its airing.
I just finished the first book in the series, Wizard's First Rule, and its okay. It had some good moments but it was very, very wordy. The author seemed to describe EVERY little detail. I picked up Stone of Tears (the second book) because I want to see what happens to Richard and Kahlan.
I am a TV-aholic. I love TV, Movies . . . anything visual. Some of my favorite shows are LotS, Supernatural, Brothers and Sisters, T:TSCC, Cold Case, Privileged, Stargate Atlantis, CSI:NY, Law and Order, Friday Night Lights, Smallville (recently started rewatching), and the list goes on and on . . . oh and ALOT of shows on HGTV!
I've been rewatching LofS episodes and patiently waiting for 2009 to GET HERE NOW!

Hi Eowyn! Looks like you like many shows that I enjoy also Yes, Terry is VERY wordy, you have to get used to it w/ his novels. I rather prefer the show that just tells us the stories instead of dipping into deep philosophical debates like Terry tends to bog his books down into sometimes, but they are fabulous reading too Nice to see another US fan - seems like we're flooded w/ Europeans here

Welcome all! Nicole, glad to see you and your fabulous fanart found your way over here; Simon, so good to have a bit of male perspective for our discussions; and Kahlan needs her fair share of ogling too eowyn, as a tv-junkie you should feel right at home among us And I second your sentiment: get 01/10/09 here now! You can't stop the European deluge!

I thought I should introduce myself properly. Hi, I'm Carrie but I respond to fides just as easily. I'm from California and got interested in Legend of the Seeker after attempting to avoid it (because I knew I'd fall in love with it) through my older sister. Since I started watching, I bought Wizard's First Rule, finished it in a week, took a break to absorb the Richard/Kahlan goodness and am now starting the Stone of Tears. I'm really happy I found a community specific to Richard and Kahlan because they're amazing. I've been involved in online fandoms, mostly shipper related, since April 2001 and have several shows that I'm a huge fan of. I noticed people mentioning Supernatural which is a love of mine. I avoid that internet community but got the chance to see them film part of an episode on my university campus last spring which was definitely a highlight of the year. I currently really enjoy watching Bones, Fringe, Battlestar Galactica and a few other shows. I am a die hard fan of Doctor Who, Stargate, Instant Star, Roswell and Farscape. Oh and I used to watch Gossip Girl (Chuck/Blair) but haven't kept up recently. Hm... I think that's about it for me. I'm finishing my last year at university, I don't have a website (not that talented), I dabble on occasion in photoshop and Sony Vegas and I post under the username fidesangelus at livejournal and on almost every other forum/community/website I'm a member of.

Thanks Em. I'm looking forward to getting to chat more with you to. I'm glad you like my sig but unfortunately I cannot claim credit for it. One of my best friends made me a new livejournal layout for Christmas and that is a smaller version of the header. I'm sure she'll do more LotS, Richard/Kahlan art work in the future and I'll gladly steer you in that direction. I forgot I didn't credit her in my sig (fixed that now). My icon is by me though. Erika - Thanks for the welcome. Crazy is where all the fun is anyway.
