deacon> I have to make a comment about what you said about Camelot being in People, did any one ever seen a 4 page cover of LotS in any magazine? Cause if ya did I sure missed it. Matter of fact, I didn't see any magazine cover any where, I wanted it soon much cause I knew there would be pics. NOTHING.
I'm thinking (keep in mind I know nothing) that they really expected it to ride in on Hercules and Xena's cost tails. And that sure didn't happen. Why? cause Xena and Hercules did play to a much younger audience, while Our Seeker's audience is closer to 25-60. This show would be airing today if they did right by it.
And, keep in mind, that Tribune was in bankruptcy so they only put into it what they had to. And we all know that wasn't much, so Our Seeker was pretty much on their own. And they did okay on their own but not enough for a big network, so here we are.
Now I'm hoping that Mark Pedowitz will want to still do something with LotS. All of us will have to tell him how we see it and hopefully he'll want to give it another chance. Some other shows have gotten picked up, yet it's been a year now. I don't know much about how this works. How long do you wait till it's too late? I'm getting sad and mad so I'm stopping here.

The reason I think it didn't do as well as Xena and Hercules was because they didn't advertise it well, didn't give it the attention it deserved. While Hercules was certainly made for a younger audience, and Xena was set for the 8 and up crowd to begin with, it was generally (especially in later seasons) no less dark or gritty than Legend of the Seeker so I don't think the age group (which it did appeal to a much larger audience, older than just the young kids) had anything to do with it.

Let's face it - they blew it in so many ways so now we're having to swoop in and save the day! We just can't give up. We've worked way too hard to stop now. Stopping now will get us absolutely nowhere. If we keep fighting, we'll eventually get what we want! I just bought 500 more envelopes to keep sending letters so I'm not giving up yet! Seeker fans are the best!! Keep it up, gang!

Keep in mind that the TV world was vastly different in the Herc and Xena days.
With the advent of cable networks, pay tv, on-line viewing options, etc. it's a whole different world for LotS.

We're getting our butt kicked at the voting wall, big time.
I really don't know who to write to any more. I'm waiting on word about Mark P, maybe some thing will work out there. He got LotS in at ABC so maybe he'll do the same at The CW.
We aren't giving up. And all the ones that have will come back when the 3rd season happens. They'll all be back.

Matter of fact, I didn't see any magazine cover any where, I wanted it soon much cause I knew there would be pics. NOTHING. Hello Sybil. The four page advertisement is actually getting into new ground as far as advertising goes. I've seen some networks take out two-page ads, and Starz has taken out 3 page advertisements, but they are really going all out with the four pages, it must have cost them a small fortune. As for Seeker, like you said, there was nothing. I would have been happy to see a full page ad, or even a half-page ad...anything! I have never seen a show so poorly advertised as Seeker. Not even ads in TV Guide, for crying out loud! The only magazine that I ever saw give some coverage to Seeker was Sy Fy magazine. Last Spring they had Cara on the front cover of the April issue, which was really nice to see. I think that is when the talks between ABC and Sy Fy were still in play, and Sy Fy still thought that they would be showing it at that point. However, as we now know, those talks would fall through the next month. We as fans gave Seeker more coverage than it had ever received when we took out the full page ads in the Hollywood trade journals. It would have been so easy to advertise. They could have begun by making the connection to Xena and Hercules. I hear that there was a promotional show filmed with Lucy Lawless (Xena) to promote Seeker, but I never saw it.

As soon as Mark P. gets that new job, you can be sure we will send him letters and postcards. For now, we are keeping up the interest with Netflix. They recently responded to a Seeker fan via Twitter, so they are aware of us. Even if you have already written to Netflix, write again. Also, it wouldn't hurt to watch some epsidoes of Seeker on Netflix, even if you already have both seasons on DVD. Netflix keeps track of the number of viewings, so let's show them how much interest there is in Seeker! Contact info for Netflix: Ted Sarandos - Chief Content Officer Netflix Inc. 345 N. Maple Drive #300 Beverly Hills, CA 90210-5183 Netflix is currently expanding into production and distribution, so let's show them an excellent series to acquire.

I'm writing to Netflix to night. I'm not giving up for nothing.
"Don't give up! As long as we stay together, there's always hope." And we're hanging in there and there's always hope.
I can't believe that Lie To Me has over 3000 votes, wow. But Craig is at # 3 now.

Yes, everyone definitely write to Netflix. Other than tweets from individuals, I think that we are the first fandom group that they have heard from. And, Seeker has been doing well on Netflix, so let's really make sure that they get LoTS of mail from us. And, since their goal is to compete with other cable networks like HBO, Starz, etc., don't forget to mention the other fantasy shows on those networks: Game of Thrones on HBO, and Camelot on Starz. Seeker would be an obvious choice to compete with other fantasy series. And, it wouldn't hurt to remind them that Terry Goodkind is currently working on his 11th Sword of Truth novel. This will help to assure them that there is much more material to draw from for future seasons of Seeker.

8. Twitter Event for Wednesday, April 13th/2011 as part of the 'Journey Book Campaign'
On April 13th, starting at 12 noon PDT / 3pm EDT, everyone please tweet about the DVD donations. The goal is NOT to trend LOTS or SOS, but to call attention to the DVD donations in the hope that we'll end up on the American Library Associaton (ALA) newsletter, or something like that. ALA has even created a hashtag for National Library Week: #nlw11, which we should include.
Use Twaitter to schedule tweets in advance. www.twaitter.com/
Some effective tweets could be:
Libraries love 'Legend of the Seeker' #nlw11
My library has [insert number] holds on the 'Legend of the Seeker' DVDs #nlw11
My library owns [insert number] 'Legend of the Seeker' DVDs #nlw11
I donated [insert number] 'Legend of the Seeker' DVD sets on behalf of SaveOurSeeker #nlw11
SaveOurSeeker has donated over 200 Season 1 'Legend of the Seeker' DVDs to US libraries #nlw11
SaveOurSeeker has donated over 100 Season 2 'Legend of the Seeker' DVDs to US libraries #nlw11
'Legend of the Seeker' fans love libraries #nlw11
New fans are discovering 'Legend of the Seeker' because of the DVDs donated by saveourseeker.com, bit.ly/gMn4SO #nlw11
Etc, etc...
As long as we all use a few keywords and hashtags (i.e. Legend of the Seeker, Save Our Seeker, and #nlw11), we're fine ;D
