Oh my.... sidesteps large puddle of drool. So sorry to bring up a distraction from the admittedly blinding hotness, but I have an idea for a Save our Seeker campaign strategy. Only it's not complete. If you think I'm onto something, maybe you can help figure out how to make it work. But there's not much time left, it was a last minute realization I guess. I was looking at DVD sales figures to see how LOTS stacks up with other TV series on DVD, and noticed something about a mid-June 2012 top 30 DVD sales chart: Batman Begins, Men in Black 1 and 2, Thor, Madagascar 1 and 2, all old movies that are topping sales again because The Dark Knight Rises, Men in Black 3, The Avengers, and Madagascar 3 are either recent hits in theaters or coming soon. For 5 out of 6 of the top-selling TV shows on DVD (Breaking Bad Season 4, True Blood Season 4, White Collar Season 3, Doc Martin Series 5, Burn Notice Season 5, Falling Skies Season 1) the new season premiere aired recently or will air within the next 30 days. That explains 11 out of the top 30 spots in best-selling DVDs (movies and television combined). Do you think there’s time for fans to orchestrate some sort of publicity promoting the LOTS DVDs in connection with the release of Terry Goodkind’s new book, The First Confessor (July 2)? I haven’t thought of a way but watching that date approach after looking at these sales numbers, I thought it would be a great opportunity to give the DVD sales a boost. I found other DVD market articles saying that normally DVD sales slow down a lot after the first few weeks after they’re released, so an event like this could conceivably make a significant difference in total sales for 2012 if it worked. This is where I found the DVD sales figures: www.the-numbers.com/dvd/charts/weekly/thisweek.phpWhat do you think? Any ideas?

I think it's a great idea to have something coincide with the July 2 release date! Though I'm wondering how this would differ from the current DVD drive SoS runs?

Thanks! I know the campaign is already promoting LOTS 24/7 in many ways, but I was thinking if there was a way to time a campaign strategy to coincide with a new release date, we might be able to capitalize on buzz to encourage internet shoppers to discover LOTS. I did some Google keyword search frequency analysis and "Terry Goodkind" searches seem to have doubled the month "The Omen Machine" was released. Once "The First Confessor" is released, there will be some bloggers reviewing it, maybe some paid publicity, maybe some author interviews. All things that could help new fans discover LOTS if we can promote the tie-in between the books and the show.
I've thought of a couple of ways we could try to draw attention to the connection that are free:
When you review new releases on Amazon and B&N as a customer, you can recommend related products, and that way if there are readers of the Sword of Truth series who haven't seen the show or didn't realize they could get it on DVD, they will be more likely to notice. Pushing new Amazon customer reviews to the front page would take a lot of voting on customer reviews for usefulness, but on B&N there are fewer customer reviews to compete with so it would be easier to make a customer review with a tie-in visible. And the more reviews the merrier!
If you spot a blogger reviewing the new book (or another Sword of Truth book) you could comment on it asking if the blogger has seen the show, mentioning that you're a fan of both the books and the show, pointing out which characters from the books are in the show (they might not guess Cara would be a major character in Season 2 if they know it's loosely based on Stone of Tears), and perhaps letting them know that the Richard in the show is more like Richard Cypher than Richard Rahl (some will like that, some will be warned not to be disappointed).
Still trying to think of other ways to promote the tie-in. With a new Richard and Kahlan story coming out in November, I'll keep brainstorming to see if I can come up with any other ideas along these lines before then.

Some great news from a Seeker fan in Italy! Another rerun of Season 2 begins this week, with two episodes to broadcast every Tuesday. I can't understand why we do not have reruns in the U.S., but "LoTS" continues to do well in Europe. I am happy for our Italian fans, and I trust that they will make some noise for more "Seeker"!

The show is on cable channels in Hungary too, currently on Cool tv. Here's a link: www.cooltv.hu/series/ahoslegendaja It's called Legend of the Hero over here. They are airing double episodes on Saturdays ( late night) and Sundays ( afternoon). The next two will be Torn and Hunger. You can check a bit of the schedule here. Oh, and I just noticed that Cool's website says Tab plays Egremont. I'll ask them to fix that.

I wouldn't mind us getting reruns. I also got my letter I sent to Mark P back. I'm gonna have to check the address.
Can someone tell me Mark Pedowitz address, since I seem to have gotten it wrong? Thanks....

deacon, thank you so much.
Slow around here lately. I've been watching my own reruns and it bring back memories, O sweet memories. Remember when we'd come on each week after a series and talk about it all week long? Me, too.
