Dragon Con is one of the largest sci-fi/fantasy conventions in the US, so it is definitely the right crowd for LotS. The convention itself is the first weekend of September. But if we could get the cast to appear and have a panel, that would create a lot of interest in the sci-fi/fantasy community. People who haven't heard of the show or have just never gotten around to watching it will want to check it out before the convention. This could give us a ratings boost not to mention the publicity from the actual event. As I understand it, there is a form on the Dragon Con website for guests to fill out if they are willing to appear at the event. dragoncon.org/dc_guest_app.phpIf we could start tweeting to Mike Sussman and/or Bridget inquiring about whether they will be going to Dragon Con, it might spark their interest. Keep in mind the extremely LARGE fandoms that attend Dragon Con....Buffy/Angel, Lord of the Rings, BSG, and this year there will be Twilight stars (personally not a draw for me but that is a huge rabid fanbase, lol). So this could be a great way to gain more viewers.

Oh I'm on it! This is potentially the best exposure we could get! I know of plenty of people who have heard of the show and just keep putting off checking it out. Having the cast at one of the conventions would give them the final nudge they need to check it out prior to going to the con!

Where is the DragonCon kball?? That definitely sounds good too, and if they had a break then in filming Season 3, that would definitely be a good one to attend
(Didn't they have a LotS-type Q&A there last year?? I recall something....)
XXXXX
I've been attending Dragon*Con for many years. It's always held in Atlanta, GA in the US over Labor Day weekend which is usually the first weekend in September. Here's their official website... www.dragoncon.orgLast year my podcast co-host, Jenn, and I were on a Legend of the Seeker panel with Craig Parker. It was a lot of fun. I usually volunteer to speak on some of the fan panels that take place during the convention so I've gotten to know some of the track directors who are involved in scheduling the programming sessions and in requesting what guests to invite to the con. I believe Legend of the Seeker is covered by the American Scifi Media track... www.scifitvtrack.comI have personally spoken to the track director, Kelley Harkins, to let her know how great it would be to have some of the main cast at the con. I didn't realize that Craig Parker was there!! Sweet!!

Awesome Kevin! ThanXXX for the info and for putting a request in for the Legend of the Seeker cast for the Con As I recall the reason why Bridget and Craig Horner couldn't make it last year was because they were shooting at convention time. So while I'd love to have them there this year I'd actually prefer it if they are busy shooting season 3 if you know what I mean. Kevin

What about the Farpoint media cons? sadly there was already one in Feb on the east coast.
As for Dragon*Con, if we can't get the cast, we should see if we can get some panels for the show, if it is not to late. Perhaps even a fan table to advertise the show. See if we can get some Freebies from the station to give out? And maybe have a Meet and Greet even if it is just a bunch of us fans, so we can get to know one another better. Maybe share some of the Podcasts at the con for those who have not yet found them?
Anyone doing Costumes? If so would you be willing to walk in the Parade at Dragon*Con? Or enter the masquerade? (to show off the costumes and get folks interested)
Just a few ideas.

As for Dragon*Con, if we can't get the cast, we should see if we can get some panels for the show, if it is not to late. Many of the programming tracks are just now starting to plan their fan panels. You can be sure that I'll be lobbying Kelley very hard to have at least one Seeker themed panel. There could be more if there are multiple actors from the show in attendance. That's often the ways things work. Getting a fan table this close to the con might be difficult. From what I've heard these need to be reserved far in advance. However, if someone is interested in taking up this project just let me know and I can find out who they should contact since I know some of the Dragon*Con track directors. We've been talking about this on several of our podcasts so I'm pretty sure we'll try to setup a day and time and then announce it once we get closer to the con. I usually print some business cards and burn some CDs to take with me so I can hand them out. My co-host, Jenn, is already working on her Mord Sith costume. She's been talking about that on the show and our other co-host Kurt has said that he'd be willing to setup a parade group. If folks are interested in doing this I'd recommend having them get in touch with us and we'd be glad to help with all of this since the three of us are regular attendees to the con. Take care, Kevin

Kevin thanks for all the info! And it's great that you are in touch with some of the higher ups!! Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help facilitate anything Seeker related for Dragon Con!
And I agree that ANY convention exposure would be awesome. This is definitely not just limited to Dragon Con!
Sistergenevra - I will be dressed as Kahlan in the traditional Mother Confessor dress! Hopefully there will be a bunch of us dressed up and we can generate some more interest!

Even if it is to late to get a fan table, Might it be possible to get ABC to send some posters or other promotional material that could be passed out at panels or left on the "freebie" tables? Hopfully we can get a Seeker panel. My selfish wish is that is be on Sunday as that is the day I usually have to actually do panels. Usually I march with the Dr Who group. I was supposed to make a Lala Ward/Ramana costume for this year but I'm not sure that is going to happen now due to many things happening. However, if I can find the money and time, I was thinking of making a red Sister of Light costume. IF that happens I would be willing to march in the Parade with a Legend of the Seeker group. But I'm not sure how to register for the Parade. Also if we do have folks willing to march, wouldn't be need some sort of Banner? If nothing else I hope I can meet some of my fellow LOTS Fans.

We have received word from our contact at Disney ABC Television, informing us that they are close to an agreement bringing back Legend of the Seeker for a third season. Should the show come back, we have let them know that we are interested in renewal for both our stations.
I will forward your comments to Disney ABC Television
