1) What were the top two things you liked about the show?
A) From the first moment of the ad I saw and then the first episode was the honesty with which Richard and Kahlan were
portrayed by Craig and Bridget. Vulnerable people, not bigger than life. Their relationship and reactions won me heart, mind and soul to their cause and to their journey.
B) This was originally directed to adults ... not teenyboppers. Adult relationship, adult themes and no campy stuff .... yet there was humor as well as angst and pathos, love and adventure, drama and fantasy... magic ... wonderful glorious crazy magic...special effects...loved laughing, crying, agonizing and celebrating....
2) What did you like best about each of the characters?
(Richard, Kahlan, Zedd, Cara and Darken Rahl)
Richard- a warm, brave young man who came of age in whirlpool of doubts and possibilities...yet believed in himself, his free-will to choose and he believed in his love for a strange glorious woman and a man he knew as a friend and then as his grandfather. His bravery and sensitivity...courage yet vulnerability, serious yet found humor ... he faced the day the best he could and sometimes he won and sometimes he didn't, but he put one foot in front of the other and went on. And he had total faith in his love for the woman he chose to share his life with....not too mention I was totally smittened!
Kahlan - strong-willed, intelligent woman, driven in her mission as Confessor, brave yet she too was vulnerable. She learns to respect the young woodsguide she had come to fight beside and to learn about a different side of life through him. And she is surprised to find the woman in her wants him and is completed by him.
Zedd - ah yes A man with a past -- passionate, funny, talented, conceited --tempered by age and experience ... intriguing his relationships with Shota and Adie...
Cara - sassy, abused, sarcastic, angry, committed
vulnerable - very puzzled by Richard, unlike any man she had known before and extremely perplexed by Richard Rahl, leader of
D'Hara. Seeing her heal parts of as her relationships with Kahlan, Richard and Zedd develop through complexities, not magically worked out.
Darken Rahl - YES! The sexy man we love to hate! A man who is totally evil yet in his evilness can make you believe you could give him another chance to change... the joke is on you...
brother dear....sister dear.... there is no humor in his eyes, he sees your demise.... he makes the rules and there are no rules!
-3) What was your favorite quote from the show?
(Several have already been used. This one is from Zedd in the Episode Revernant. He has seen Vivian and Kieran leave together to the underworld.) Despite this episode is not one filled with intentional laughter ... this is one of my fav's of Zedd's
quirky sense of timing.
"Obviously we can't leave the box (of Ordin) in this cursed place!"
