Thank you Extremis for the updates. Even when if feels like we may not be doing much to renew our show, updates like this remind us how busy we Legend of the Seeker fans are. The networks cannot ignore us forever. I totally agree, deacon!! We just have to keep it up! It was a good reminder of how busy we are trying to save SEEKER. Sometimes you feel as if there is only a handful of us doing anything,. It's good to see there are so many still fighting!! Don't lose hope!!

Thank you Auroracat for posting this article. I wonder if HBO is going to do the "multiple showings" routine each week, or if this was only for the premiere episode? And, what a budget! $5 million per episode! I always thought that Seeker looked incredible with it's budget of $1.5 million per episode. I'm not sure about Camelot, but suposedly Starz is spending about $3 million per episode on that one. Imagine if Seeker had a budget of $3 million per episode?! Well, no one can accuse HBO or Starz of being cheap when it comes to their productions. Unlike a certain channel that rhymes with "Hi Fi", HBO and Starz will probably never produce a series that looks cheap. And, no one will be able to accuse them of a lack of advertising. What with Starz and its 4 page ads for Camelot; and then not to be outdone, HBO took out 8 page fold-out ads for Game of Thrones. They are certainly raising the bar as far as the quality of fantasy series go. Whichever network picks up Seeker will need to realize this.

I know what you mean about advertising. I didn't know about Legend of the Seeker until halfway through the second season.
But to be fair, Game of Thrones (i.e. The Song of Ice and Fire series) might have a bigger following than the Sword of Truth series, since George R.R. Martin is considered, by some, to be the American Tolkien.

Well, either way I think all of this publicity for HBO and Starz shows can only help us and SEEKER. More channels will hopefully be scampering to get good fantasy shows to compete so if we keep up the exposure someone will want SEEKER! Keep those letters going!

I just subscribed to both Starz and HBO so I could check out Camelot and Game of Thrones. I saw Camelot first and thought, my gosh, I wish they had gotten Seeker...you could tell they had money to spend and, being cable, they could take it to another level that Disney/ABC never could or would. But the SoT story is far superior in my opinion. And then I saw GoT just last night and wished THEY had gotten Seeker. As much as I loved so much about our show (cinematography, music, costumes...) GoT really took their show to a whole new level. I haven't read those books and I'm not even sure if it's considered Fantasy but I'm looking forward to following this one. It gives me hope that someone will see Seeker's potential and will someday do it justice.

As for the large budgets that Game of Thrones and Camelot have, I wonder if a part of that is because they are filming in Europe? The current exchange rate is: 1.00 EUR = 1.45 USD. Seeker was filming in New Zealand, and at that time it was almost the opposite of filming in Europe. For every US $1.00, they were getting about $1.50 NZ. The current exchange rate is 1.00 USD = 1.25 NZD. My point with all of this is that it would still be very worthwhile to continue filming Seeker in New Zealand. It may not hurt to point this out in our letters to potential networks. Also, the Auckland Film Studios where Seeker was filmed are still available. If you go to their website and click on filmography, the most current production that they have listed is Legend of the Seeker. Whichever network picks up our show could easily and quickly move back into the same studios. Another potential selling point when we write letters. aucklandfilmstudios.comAnd, as Jlyn pointed out in her post: the story of Seeker is a good selling point. Just as Game of Thrones is based on a series of popular novels, as we all know, so is Seeker. If I am not mistaken, Terry Goodkind is currently working on the 11th Sword of Truth novel. That leaves much more potential story for the network that picks up our series. Remember everyone, when we write to networks about Seeker, we are in effect "selling it" to them. Our show already has a built in fan base of millions from around the world. Let's help the networks to realize why it would be worth their while to pick up and continue with Seeker!

All good points deacon. And for those writing letters...Terry's 12th novel in the series is due out in Aug (and it's the 1st of a trilogy so we should look forward to more).

Does anyone know some of the Sword of Truth statistics, such as how many copies sold? Or, how many different languages the novels have been published in? This could also be good information to point out when writing our letters.

An interesting article on how to keep canceled shows alive. The last paragraph sums it up well: The bottom line is, cancellation doesn't have to be forever — intellectual property is never left fallow for too long in Hollywood, as long as there's money to be made. It may take years, or even decades, but a show that has an enduring fanbase, creators who've gone on to have decent careers, and a slew of top-flight younger creators among its aficionados will never really be dead. Entire article hereIt's worth a few minutes to read.

So this morning I open the mail and find this: CAH Oh, did I mention I had no idea this was coming? I nearly fell off my chair! Thank you Jlyn for sharing this. I also received a nice surprise yesterday. A card came with no return address on it, but the post mark was from Los Angeles. I was thinking to myself, I don't remember ordering anything from L.A. Then I opened it and to my surprise, the same photo that you received! On the front Craig wrote with silver ink: "Thanks Bob! CAH", and drew a little smiley face under his initials. Then on the back, he wrote in black ink: "Love the letter! - Craig", and drew another smiley face beside his name. Like you, I was amazed. It means a lot that he pesonalized it. In my case, this response would have been in reference to his birthday card. Remember we sent those to him in January. Awhile ago I had ordered some Seeker "fun money" online. It is a laminated $100 U.S. bill with Kahlan and Richard on the front, and Cara, Richard, Kahlan, and Zedd on the back. I put one of those in his card with my letter, since it was his birthday, and now this! My "tech" skills are very limited, but I will try to upload a photo the way that Jlyn did.

Wow! I feel like so much good stuff is happening here. I'm writing letters every week. I just miss Our Seeker so much.
So we know it could take some time here, after all it's only been a year. We'll get Our Seeker back.
Can ya get G of T and C on hulu now ? are do I have to wait till the season is over? I don't know how they work it.

Camelot is on Starz and GoT is on HBO. I'm guessing if they ever do get to Hulu it won't be for awhile.
