Since we know they revert to Goodkind, it makes no business sense for Disney to hold them or price them at such a point that no one else can afford them. Disney is not making any money from holding onto them and doing nothing. It's not like they can hold them to do something later. They need to act fairly soon.
How do we know this? I thought once Terry sold the rights to them it's out of his hands?
I agree, they won't just sit there holding the rights forever. They might be hoping (planning) for a big movie trilogy or something (like LotR) but that's an entirely different animal. It would take years and we'd have an entirely new cast. Not that I wouldn't love an epic movie trilogy (or something) but I want my series with the beloved current cast.
But if that were the case...why are they even negotiating anything with StarZ, DirecTV, etc. now?
The rights reverting to Goodkind information came from Terry himself. I think it was in a discussion panel "aftermath" from a convention. Will see if I can locate the exact text.
Terry said it was an unusual arrangement for Disney, as they normally purchase the rights outright, but that it was the only way he would make the deal, so they went with it.

Its demise was announced months ago, but fans of the syndicated fantasy show "Legend of the Seeker" haven't given up yet, writing to producers, raising money for ads in industry magazines and buying boxed sets of the season one DVD set to give to libraries in hopes of growing the audience and forcing a third season.
One of the fans, Shirley M Thorson of Oxford wrote to give an update on the effort. She says:
Over 30,000 fans have siened the Save Our Seeker petition website. There are over 7,000 YouTube videos devoted to the show. There are websites, fan forums, Twitter accounts.
Even Terry Goodkind, those books led to the series "is in full suport of the show," Thorson says.
What's the appeal of the show? She ansewers:
There is nothing like it on TV. It has a hero who seeks the truth and does the right thing. It has a heroine who is a strong role model for young women. It has dastardly villians, a wize wizard who is humorous, amazing top quality action scenes and great special effect and aove all good writing.
She wants the like minded to visit the website in order to save "Legend of the Seeker," the first two seasons of which continues in reruns Saturdays at 5 p.m. at WTXX, channel 20.
I just called Starz because I wanted to hear exactly what they are telling people now. Rather than ask a question, I just said "I'm calling for information on Legend of the Seeker." She replied, "Yes, ma'am. Upper Management has directed us to tell callers that Legend of the Seeker will not be acquired so they can focus on Pillars of the Earth, Spartacus and Camelot."
Doesn't change anything - just wanted to post what I've been told.

Wow, I really would be upset to see this show fall under the table…. I just started to get into this show! I saw one episode of the 2nd season and love it immediately. I never knew this show was on TV! If is was on cable I would have seen it in a heart beat! I honestly think it needed more PR, more commericals etc. It was poorly distributed to the public.
I just finished watching season 1 just to catch up with Season 2. Currently, I am watching Season 2 between TV and Netflix. It’s a very infectious show! I am totally hooked on this show! Can't wait to read the books; I've become a junkie-lol!
I ‘ve always been a fan of Sam Raimi and Robert Tapert’s work. Starting with Hercules and my ultimate favorite Xena, Spartacus: B&S and now LOts. LOtS brings back the feeling of the Xena days; which I miss so much.
I love the characters! MY fav.'s are Zed and Cara but, they all make the show. It wouldn't be the show that it is if one was to be replaced. I also love the fact that all the faces I remember from Xena pop up with in the Seeker episodes. Xena characters like Draco, Joxer, Iolus and many many more. Though they are not playing those characters it's nice to see them in new roles! 8) I really hope they do not let this one end .....
Well, I've been plugging away to Save our Seeker on several forums, facebook, writing e-mails to Starz and Disney. I just hope some kind of agreement is reached this show is so worth it. Bring on Season 3,4 and many more!
"Princess" Cara: I think you have an admirer... Zed: Is there any reason I shouldn't.

I just dropped an email to KristinDosSantos from E!Online. She's been supportive of SoS in the past so I thought I'd ask if she could clarify what the situation is (if she even knows). I don't know how else to even attempt to get an answer. If I hear back, I'll post her reply.

I've been thinking of this all day, since I've been asking why so much. For all of us who live around Disney (can get there at least). What do you think that we show up at Disney and ask to talk face to face to the head of programming? If 10-20 people show up, what can they do?
If we are nice and state our desires to just ask a few questions, what do you think they'll do? Think on this, because we'll never know unless WE do something our selves.
Disney has had networks that showed interest in LotS (Syfy & Starz, that we know of) and nothing has happen, and we really don't know why. And we're only guessing at this point. WE REALLY KNOW NOTHING AS A FACT.
Getting the word out; here is another way we can make are voices heard:
E online is doing a Tater Top Awards 2010: Get your nomination in!! for: Best Kiss Best Fight Show you will miss the most Most Heartbeaking Cancellation and many many more awards
There is several ways to keep the momentum going : Legend of the Seeker (SOS save our seeker) are pulling book of - "e-mail fan list". If you bbc seekerfans@yahoo.co.uk you will be part of that list.
*******From Facebook:SOME NEWS FROM STARZ********
News that Starz was unable to purchase the license to LotS. This can go 2 ways: 1.Disney doesn't want to get rid of their rights B/C they have other plans for LotS:EX: Movie or a short Season [13 epi]. Way 2:No more Seeker. I'm leaning more towards they don't want to get rid of their rights, B/C they kno...w the show can go places, just don't know what to do with it yet!! SO stay positive!KEEP FIGHTING!
