This is awesome news Its not clear whether a deal has been made yet or not I guess, so it's important to continue calling and writing Starz so they're willing to pay whatever price for the license!

The following is what I posted on another forum:
All just educated guessing based on business experience and what we "know".
Okay gang - from a business perspective it would not make sense for ABC/Disney to not sell or lease the rights to Starz, if they are not going to use them anymore. They aren't making any money for Disney just sitting there and we know that the rights won't remain with Disney permantently (revert to Goodkind if not used) so it's not like they can hold them for future use.
The fact that Disney and Starz already have an ongoing relationship is definitely a plus for 2 reasons: 1) They have working relationships through which to work and each "know" the other" 2) Disney will not want to antagonize Starz due to their already existing and ongoing contracts. And may even be more "open" to working with a company they already have a relationship with.
As for the story lines, I strongly suspect that much of the same people will be involved in the show but they will no longer be bound by syndication rules and the whole "Disneyfication". Pretty sure it will still be Renanissance productions doing the work of the show because they support the show and because Starz already has relationship with them. Speculation here: Starz will want to capitalize on the existing seasons (and the fans that were drawn to the show), if they just completely started over or drastically changed the show from the very beginning of their production, they risk alienating the very people that fought for the show in the first place. So my guess is that they will get more "serious" with it, but that they will build on what's already been established in seasons 1 & 2.

Auroracat, I hope you're right. However, Mike S. just tweeted that the rumors about Starz wanting to pick up LOTS were not true, as far as he knows. I guess it's possible he'c completely out of the loop. But I think it's unlikely, imo.

I've been reading those and I say here what I said there.
Mike says "as far as he knows". There is absolutely no logical reason he would know. Only the way high ups at Starz and Disney would know. Starz may have contacted Renanssaince Pictures to find out if they are still interested in doing the show, but that to please not say anything until there is a signed deal. These higher ups would most likely not included someone at Mike's level.
I am fairly certain that Mike is off doing other things and not really involved with anything LotS related. He has a living to earn and until someone tells him that he can earn a paycheck from LotS again (which would be after a deal is made and when the production is being put back together again) he has no reason to keep up with the SoS campaign and so doesn't know about the information we have gotten from Starz directly.

I just hope that if Starz buy LotS , they have sense enough to not start changing actors and actresses , it would be heard for me to accept a different Richard , Kahlan , Cara , or Zedd , personally I think they would be willing to get back together and do LotS but you never know

Well according to Bridgit's skype talk, she is still under contract and personally I would think that the same cast would be part of "the deal" and Starz probably realizes that the cast is a huge part of the love behind the show and necessary for a successful continuation.
These are just my thoughts, but I do think it's a positive sign that the actors haven't been released and as of right now, all seem to be "available".

When I called Renaissance Pictures (as I posted further up) they said "it appears it has" (when I asked if LotS had been cancelled). Again, the guy seemed to make an effort out of not using the actual work cancelled. And kept saying 'it appears so' when I asked about it... SO, they know somethings in the works. Now weather or not it pans, out...we don't know yet and can only keep doing what we're doing. But they know. That's my opinion anyway.

Why tinker with a hot and awesome cast that we fans are obviously fanatic about? That would just make us all REALLY MAD!! If Starz does pick up Seeker, it would be awesome b/c they could have the freedom to do so much more with it (i.e. can be darker, more sexy squee timez, etc). They'll be able to really delve into the darker aspects of the books even more. ;D Ok, I have to stop now b/c I'm getting myself waaaay too excited and my hopes really up...

There's no way they'd change the cast. I think they would rearrange shooting schedules and jump through all kinds of hoops to keep the main cast. After two seasons, you just can switch out people like that. I feel certain it would never happen. And if the cast is still under contract, then it's a non-issue anyway.
Still, don't want to get ahead of things. I'd like to hear an announcement first before I worry about casting.

I don't think that Starz would get LotS and change the cast, that really would be brick-ass stupid. The cast is what makes a show, well, 80%, I'm not even worried about that. I really think they'll be improved, sexier, darker. Starz can do a lot better than Tribune. Who know maybe they'll even do some advertising, wouldn't that be something? Just think this time people just might hear about the show.
