I'm interested in finding out what the ratio is between male and female fans of LotS/SoT. ;D

I pretty much assumed it would be mostly girls. I know a lot of guys that loved the books and like the show; but they're not really that into shipping or anything like that. So I guess it makes sense that there are more girls here.

It's true that this generally seems to be a feminine-based fanbase, and I agree w/ your comment on shipping - hence the "fangirl" terminology. I, too, have no doubt that there are more girls than guys. I'm simply feeding the curiosity beast inside of me by trying to figure out just how big the difference is. Thus far, it's a 6:1 ratio.

Yeah I think most guys don't do the shipping thing. Even if they might want to, it's just not as accepted in society I guess. Though I have alot of friends from diff fandoms that are guys who are huge shippers.

Fandom is mostly female dominated. It's one of the few communities my culture in which women have primary roles in discussion and creating art and contributing on a number of levels.
I don't know why guys don't show up to fandom so much. Maybe they do more gaming stuff?
That's ok. I bemoan being grossly outnumbered by women here. Really. It's horrible to be surrounded by smart, creative, witty and talented fandom women all day. I don't know how I stand it. Srsly.
On a side note: while male/female demographics can be interesting, it might be helpful to have another thread or tweak this thread. (Like: what gender are you?) Not everyone identifies as either just male or female; some people identify as in-between or both or neither, or whatever. While I assume there may not be overwhelming numbers of the gender variant, it's still nice to try and be inclusive.

yea i have said it before, i am not complaining, although sometimes i question my manly-ness shipping with all these chicks, but thats not a problem at all. Atleast i have somewhere to do it now, lol cuz im pretty sure none of my male friends would appreciate it.

I must profess I'm a huge wimp, though. I will feign very very manly as best as I can.

I am a guy and I like to post and discuss shows I like on message boards. I enjoy the romance in a show as much as anyone because I am a romantic at heart. If this show was just straight up romance I wouldn't be interested though.
I need me some action and romance with a good storyline and you have a fan in me. I am very easy to please and plus it helps that Kahlan is gorgeous. I think this show has a perfect balance of action and romance.
I love discussing my shows and MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) online.

I am a gal but I agree with Kevin25... a romance show without the action and story line would soon become boring- once the characters fall in love-what next
