What in the name of the good spirits is "shiping"?

Shipping definition in Wikipedia. The bottom line: "Shipping, derived from the word "relationship", is a general term for fans' emotional and/or intellectual involvement with the ongoing development of romance in a work of fiction." (you've never been in internet fandom before, have you? I remember the times when I didn't know what 'shipping' and 'ships' were all about...)

Sorry, that was not my intention at all - I was just remarking that a few years ago I was in the same situation; it was actually meant to make you feel better - that we've all been in your shoes and there's nothing wrong with not knowing the specific language or something. Sorry if it offended you, I can delete the comment.

Oh good, you had me worried I stepped on your toes. Don't worry about the lingo, you'll pick it up soon enough. For example, to indicate that you're joking, happy or just positive and smiling, you can add a smiley like that:

When you click 'reply' to a post (instead of writing in the quick reply box below the thread), you get a list of smileys on the left, very handy use and lear all the shortcuts. But the basics are: : and ) make a smile ; and ) make a wink : and ( make a frown : and D make a grin

sorry Bad habit. oh by the way you didn't step on my toes, but my boyfriend did though and it is really bruised up. Fides, what does "I PWN" mean. From your avatar or do you know. It has been itching at me and my nosy mom who is right now looking over my shoulder. How do you post banners like what i see below some mods signatures and stuff? Sorry about that. I edited it. It won't happen again.

SunKrux, you'd have to ask our admin about that (Erika, you around?), but for me the PM text is always on the right side of the banner - maybe it has to do with my screen resolution and browser. But if you find it annoying, you also have the same info on the bottom of the main page, with forum statistics: on the left you have total topics/last updated/view the most recent and on the right total members/newest member/your personal messages. You can access your inbox there just as well as the top of the page. kahlanfan123, firstly, wikipedia's definition of pwn . Basically it's an internet slang term derived from 'own' as in 'won and crushed you'. 'I pwn' about 5 years ago would be 'I rule'. Secondly, to put images in your signature go to modify your profile and where you previously've put text, use the img tags: [*img]link to your picture[*/img] (without the *s). Thirdly, please don't double and triple post! You know how to edit your posts - if you want to add something to the thread and your post is still the last one there, just add to your existing post. Double posting is against the forum rules. I'd appreciate it if you'd edit your first post of the three above to contain all that you've wrote in them and deleted the spare two.

Yeah I've been on other boards that were like that too. I don't know why it is that all of the text shows up on the right hand side - it's done that for me on every Proboard forum that I've ever set up.
It's possible that the other boards that you've posted on before were created a long time ago and that's a part of the code. The 3 boards that I've created since mid-2007 have all been that way. I can't find anything in the coding to change it. Sorry.

I've used smaller banners and it doesn't make a difference
