So every few weeks your mod staff has to wage weary battles against members posting images here that we consider to be against board rules and the staff has decided that since these policies are hidden in our huge board rules that we'll create a thread just to address this issue.
At the bottom of this post you can read the full text on why we don't allow private images of Bridget, Craig, and the cast to be posted here. In the past fansite owners constantly worried about being shut down due to copyright issues. We're still always conscious of that fact. This forum is the oldest R/K, pure LOTS fansite on the web, with that status we want to uphold very high standards. If you'll notice by perusing our site's photo gallery that we don't have candids posted there. We also don't watermark our images because, CSS does not own the photos, the studios/photographers do. We keep the images pristine and unaltered because that helps to protect us.
I know that all of us are hungry to get our hands on anything new regarding our favorite stars, however, respecting their privacy needs to be our #1 concern. Many of the personal or "behind the scenes" photos that have surfaced were swiped from personal Facebook accounts. Even though Facebook is a public site, most people who post personal photos there expect a certain level of privacy and ownership of their images. Most of the recent candids were from people who are friends of B&C on the set of LOTS. I highly doubt that permission was ever asked for in order to repost these images elsewhere. Unless we actually acquire permission from the original photographer and Bridget and Craig to post the full size images here, they're off limits.
Here are some examples of photos that we will immediately delete if we see them linked to, or loaded here:
Recently another fansite posted this series of photos of Bridget. Bridget's publicist contacted the site owner and politely asked for them to be removed. In respect to Bridget - we're following the same request. These images are not allowed to be posted here unless they are released in the future:
At this point - we're going to ask that if you have created any fanart using any of these photos that you remove your art from the boards. IF you have posted the art elsewhere, Livejournal, your personal webpages, etc, we will allow you to provide a link to that artwork, however the artwork itself is not allowed on these boards. We are currently reviewing all of the art threads and are tagging any that we find these images. We'll check back in a week's time to see if they've been removed, if not we'll remove the links and you'll be sent a reminder to not post such artwork.
Please do not repost the images after they've been removed.
So what images are allowed?
Plenty! When Bridget and Craig go on their Fall publicity tour we should get interviews of them and possibly photos of them coming in and out of interviews. If fans happen to catch them out and about and post images on Flickr or other public photo hosting sites and they have not specifically stated that the photos cannot be reposted (or if they have not removed downloading options) you can always shoot the photographer a message and ask if you can share the photos w/ our fan community. Or you can link to their photo gallery and I'll be happy to contact them directly. Most people on Flickr are receptive if you politely ask for permission to repost stuff.
Bridget & Craig are going to be at a convention in NZ this October - any photos that come out w/ them from the event are fair game. Why? Because that's a public event and there's zero expectation of privacy (with the exception of maybe if someone rudely takes pics of them in the restroom or something of that sort.) The only thing that I'd suggest again if the pictures include fans, just shoot the person a message and get permission to repost them.
Also if Bridget herself posts images on her Twitter feed, those would be fine to repost since she's releasing them herself.
Basically - any time that B&C are out and about doing things that involves their work or they are out in public for promotional purposes be that either for LOTS or if they're on set for a different project, photos are fine.
Grey area photos would be those taken by Papparazzi - those would be allowed if the paps catch them while shooting a film project or coming in and out of an event. I'm not usually a fan of photos that paps take of stars simply walking down the street or eating out, etc - but luckily our duo aren't big enough names and work too far away to have to worry about that.
Nutshell - use your discretion. If you're not sure if something is allowed or not, feel free to shoot one of your moderator or admin staff a PM w/ the link. It's always better to err on the side of caution. We'd rather tell you privately that an image isn't allowed that publicly delete it on the boards.
As things stand, thanks to my being an insane mad screencapper and photo hound, our community has more photos of Bridget & Craig than anywhere else on the web. I certainly hope that more than makes up for not allowing a small handful of photos to be posted here.
All of my caps will be available to you all soon...so sit tight
Feel free to ask any questions below.
